The National Police have dismantled a marijuana plantation in Usera thanks to the report of a worker who was threatened. Five individuals involved in the operation have been arrested.
A police operation has led to the dismantling of a marijuana plantation in an industrial warehouse in the Madrid district of Usera, following a report from a worker who claimed to have been a victim of threats and assaults by his colleagues. The investigation began on June 17, when agents received a tip-off about a man who stated he was suffering mistreatment while working in the care and surveillance of the crop. During his statement, the complainant explained that he had recently arrived in Spain intending to work in this sector and that his job involved permanently guarding the plantation. According to his testimony, he was the only one sleeping inside the property where the crop was located, while the other employees only came in for occasional tasks. To corroborate his account, he showed the agents a video recorded inside the establishment. The footage revealed the existence of an extensive marijuana crop, prompting investigators to establish a surveillance operation around the site. Nearby, four men who were part of the group with which the victim worked were located. Subsequently, a search was carried out at the industrial warehouse where nearly one thousand plants of marijuana were discovered, along with all the necessary infrastructure for intensive cultivation under controlled conditions. This included advanced systems for lighting and ventilation specifically designed for this type of illegal agricultural exploitation. As a result of the operation, five men were arrested and placed at the disposal of the judiciary for alleged crimes against public health. This intervention not only dismantled a significant illegal activity but also shed light on the abusive working conditions faced by the complainant while remaining isolated in charge of the crop.
