A blow to drug trafficking in the heart of Vallecas
In a coordinated action between the National Police and the Municipal Police of Madrid, a critical drug sales point has been dismantled in Puente de Vallecas. The operation, which took place on April 22, resulted in the arrest of a man who was operating from a house located on Cobo de Tarifa street, in the well-known Pozo del Tío Raimundo neighbourhood.
The investigation began in October of the previous year when authorities started receiving reports about suspicious activities related to the distribution of illegal substances. As the inquiries progressed, officers noticed an unusual movement of people quickly entering and exiting the property, which raised further suspicions.
During the search of the drug den, police found a considerable amount of drugs: 17 grams of cocaine, 2.5 grams of heroin, as well as over 5,500 euros in small denominations. Additionally, three knives, a flashlight-taser, and a gun magazine were seized. Part of the money was cleverly hidden both in the freezer and inside a bucket.
Alarmingly, this sales point was located a short distance from several schools and playgrounds, highlighting the dangerous environment in which this drug den operated. The proximity to areas frequented by children and families underscores the urgency with which authorities must act to eradicate these illegal activities.
The arrested individual, born in 1990 and with a criminal record for similar offenses, faces serious charges for crimes against public health and illegal possession of weapons. Following his arrest, he has been placed at the disposal of the judiciary while the relevant legal procedures are carried out.
This operation is just one more in the ongoing effort by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in Madrid. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to public safety and their determination to eliminate critical points like this that threaten not only adults but also the youngest members of society.
