A shocking attack during rush hour
On May 1, a regular bus became the scene of a violent assault that has left the community of Colmenar Viejo in shock. Around 9:00 PM, several young people armed with knives boarded the vehicle, which was stopped in front of the Cercanías station, and attacked one of the passengers without warning.
The Guardia Civil acted swiftly. In the days following the attack, four individuals were arrested on suspicion of committing attempted homicide. The detainees, aged between 17 and 22, represent a cultural diversity that includes both Spaniards and Maghrebis. The main aggressor, identified as Moroccan, has already been imprisoned by court order.
Aside from the attempted homicide, authorities are investigating whether these young people are part of a larger criminal organisation. Although no previous criminal records have been found among them, sources from the Armed Institute have indicated that their possible links to Latin gangs operating in the region are being investigated.
The victim of the attack was urgently taken to the hospital due to multiple injuries sustained during the assault. Despite the chaos generated by the aggression — which occurred in front of other passengers — the attackers managed to flee the scene quickly. However, thanks to the thorough investigations carried out by the Guardia Civil, all were located and arrested shortly after.
It is still unclear what motivated this brutal assault. Authorities continue to investigate whether it was a personal vendetta or related to broader criminal activities. The premeditated nature of the attack has raised concerns about public safety and the potential increase in violence associated with organised groups.
Colmenar Viejo faces a new challenge: This incident has shocked local residents and raises questions about safety on public transport. The community awaits answers as investigations continue to clarify what happened that fateful night.
