An accident at a construction site in San Sebastián de los Reyes has resulted in the death of a 43-year-old worker and left another with serious injuries. The community is in shock over the incident.

One worker has lost his life and another has been seriously injured after the collapse of a structure in a house under construction in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid. The tragic incident occurred around 2:00 PM on Osa Street, where both workers were engaged in building work. Upon the arrival of medical services from Summa 112, resuscitation efforts were attempted on the 43-year-old man, who ultimately died due to his injuries.

The second worker, a 36-year-old man, was taken to La Paz hospital with injuries that have been classified as potentially serious. Such workplace accidents are not uncommon in the construction sector, where conditions can be dangerous if safety protocols are not properly followed.

Local authorities have confirmed that both the Local Police and firefighters also attended the scene to assist with rescue and medical care efforts. This incident has raised deep concern among workers in the sector and their families, who are demanding greater measures to ensure workplace safety.

Construction is one of the sectors most vulnerable to fatal accidents. According to recent data from the Ministry of Labour, over 200 deaths related to workplace accidents were recorded across Spain last year, highlighting the urgent need to review current regulations and improve working conditions.

As the investigation into this tragic event progresses, thorough inspections are expected to determine the exact causes of the collapse and whether there was any negligence on the part of the employer or failure to comply with regulations.

The local community is organising a vigil to honour the deceased worker and support his family during this difficult time. Everyone who wishes to participate is invited to gather this Friday afternoon in front of the town hall. Authorities have promised to take additional measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
