The Ministry of Transport is starting the rehabilitation of the A-5, affecting traffic between Alcorcón and Móstoles. The works will take place during July and August with significant restrictions.
The A-5 motorway, which connects Madrid with Badajoz, will undergo significant rehabilitation starting from July 6. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has announced that the work will focus on the section that runs through the municipalities of Alcorcón, Móstoles, and Navalcarnero, which will involve various traffic restrictions during the summer months. The intervention, awarded for an amount of 15.4 million euros, aims to improve the road surface conditions and ensure road safety on this key artery for mobility in the region.
The works will cover from kilometer 10 to 36.7 in both directions. One of the most significant closures will affect the right lane towards Toledo between kilometers 13.4 and 14.2. This restriction will be in effect from 00:00 hours on July 6 until 23:59 hours on August 7, occupying the right shoulder and part of the central lane. Although the left and central lanes will remain open, they will experience narrowing.
Additionally, the ramp connecting from the junction at kilometer 13 towards Badajoz will be closed during this period. Drivers will need to use the San Martín de Valdeiglesias avenue as an alternative to access the motorway via the M-50.
Another affected section will be between kilometers 24.4 and 23.5 towards Madrid. The restrictions will be active from 00:00 hours on July 13 until 23:59 hours on August 26. In this case, the right shoulder and part of the central lane will also be occupied; however, the service road will continue to operate normally.
Throughout August, there will be occasional closures at different points between the previously mentioned kilometers. These interruptions will mainly occur from the early hours of Monday until midday on Friday.
This type of intervention is not new; since June 2018, over 860 million has been allocated to improvements in the State Road Network in Madrid. The last major work was carried out three years ago when critical sections were renewed to alleviate historical problems on this road.
Users should pay attention to the information signs installed along the route to avoid setbacks. It is recommended to plan alternative routes or adjust schedules to minimize inconveniences during this summer period.
