A clear message for the players
In the lead-up to the clash against Girona, Álvaro Arbeloa, coach of Real Madrid, has made it clear that attitude and commitment are fundamental for his team. In a press conference held today, Arbeloa emphasised that each player must demonstrate their desire to belong to the club in every match, regardless of the competition.
“I want players who want to be at Real Madrid every day,” he stated with determination. The coach stressed that talent alone is not enough; it is self-demand that allows for consistent performance throughout the season. Arbeloa highlighted that even in less significant matches, such as some league games, maximum effort is expected from his players.
Despite the proximity of the crucial Champions League match against Bayern Munich, Arbeloa assured that there will be no load management in his lineup for the clash against Girona. “We are not here for experiments,” he declared, hinting at his intention to field the best available players to secure a victory. The coach is confident that his players are motivated and ready to deliver a great show for the fans.
During the conference, broader topics related to Spanish football were also addressed. Arbeloa was questioned about recent refereeing decisions and preferred not to delve into specifics regarding situations like the incident between Pubill and Musso during the match between Barcelona and Atlético. However, he made it clear that his opinion on refereeing remains steadfast: “My opinion remains the same from what I see week after week,” referring to the difficult decisions even with the implementation of VAR.
The coach did not hold back in praising some of his standout players. He spoke positively about Vinícius Júnior, highlighting his talent and performance at home. Additionally, he defended Camaingva, who has frequently been a starter since his arrival at the Madrid bench. Regarding Éder Militao, Arbeloa described him as a complete and physically dominant centre-back, confirming his starting position alongside Bellingham. He also mentioned that Mendy is likely to get minutes during the match against Girona.
