The Uncertainty Surrounding Kylian Mbappé

Real Madrid faces a significant challenge this weekend, as their star Kylian Mbappé will not be available for the crucial match against Elche in LaLiga. This news was confirmed by coach Álvaro Arbeloa during a recent press conference, where he expressed hope that the French forward could join the team for the trip to Manchester, where the second leg of the Champions League semifinals against Manchester City will take place.

Despite the imminent absence, Arbeloa remained optimistic about the player's progress. “This is not a complicated moment; Mbappé is getting better every day,” he stated. The coach highlighted that the forward's recovery follows a plan established in conjunction with the medical services and the club's physical preparation department. According to Arbeloa, this progress largely depends on the player's daily condition.

Kylian Mbappé has been dealing with an issue in his left knee since early December, which has limited his participation in matches. So far, he has only been able to play in 9 of the 17 matches contested by Real Madrid this season. His absence has been noticeable in key matches such as the encounters against Benfica and Manchester City in the Champions League, as well as against Getafe and Celta in LaLiga.

Despite the current difficulties, Arbeloa remains hopeful: “I want him to be able to travel to Manchester.” The final decision regarding his participation will be made after assessing how the player feels both tomorrow and on Sunday. Additionally, Arbeloa mentioned that it would be ideal to have him available for the match against Atlético de Madrid after the European game.

The situation becomes even more complicated considering Mbappé's international commitments with the French national team at the end of March, when he will participate in scheduled friendlies in the United States. However, Arbeloa preferred not to delve into details on this matter for now: “What happens with France will be addressed at that time.”
