A bright future for Real Madrid
Amid the intense electoral contest for the presidency of Real Madrid, Enrique Riquelme, a candidate to lead the club, has generated great expectation by announcing that he will reveal the name of a star player who could join the team if he wins the elections this Sunday. During a recent interview on the popular YouTube channel ‘The Wild Project’, Riquelme not only spoke about his sporting plans but also launched strong criticisms towards the current management of president Florentino Pérez.
Riquelme emphasised that it is crucial for the club to maintain its governance and avoid any attempts at privatisation. “Real Madrid cannot lose the little governance it has left,” he stated, suggesting that any significant change should be decided democratically by the members. In this regard, he firmly opposes the proposals for the sale of the club that have emerged in recent times.
One of the highlights of his speech was the lack of transparency surrounding key figures within the club. Riquelme specifically mentioned Anas Laghrari, a close advisor to Pérez, pointing out that his influence and decisions should be clearer to all fans and members. “It is essential to know who the people behind important decisions are,” he stressed.
Despite acknowledging the current financial problems of the club, Riquelme proposed viable alternatives without the need to resort to sale or privatisation. “There is no need to sell the club; there are more effective ways to improve our economic situation,” he assured, suggesting a thorough review of unnecessary expenses and better management of content generated by Real Madrid TV.
Regarding the sporting aspect, Riquelme hinted at his intention to bring back young talent Nico Paz, stating that it would be a logical decision given his outstanding recent performance. “For 9 million, it’s a reasonable figure; he has a guaranteed place in our team,” he commented enthusiastically.
Apart from the star signing, Riquelme also mentioned having a deal in place with an experienced coach to lead the club's sporting project. Although he did not reveal specific names during the interview, he made it clear that he is looking for respected figures within the Spanish football world.
Throughout his speech, Riquelme did not hold back in his criticisms of Florentino Pérez, questioning his authoritarian style and suggesting that he has been too long without facing significant opposition. “The president must remember that the club does not belong to him; he has a legacy to respect,” he concluded.
