High-Speed Chase in Madrid: Three Arrested and Eight Police Officers Injured

A Night of Chaos in the Streets of Madrid

Last Tuesday night turned into a scene of tension and danger when a police chase between Getafe and southern Madrid resulted in an alarming outcome: three arrests and eight officers injured. The events began near the Nassica shopping centre, where an off-duty civil guard recognised an individual who had an outstanding search warrant.

The officer, after identifying the suspect, decided to discreetly follow him while alerting the Operational Centre. However, the man realised he was being followed and made a desperate escape. Upon entering the A-42 motorway, he rammed two police vehicles, marking the start of a dangerous race towards the capital.

As the chase progressed, the suspect traversed several streets in southern Madrid, including paseo de Santa María de la Cabeza and paseo de Acacias. With each turn, officers attempted to intercept him, but the driver continued to display a defiant attitude, repeatedly colliding with patrol cars. The situation became critical when he managed to rejoin the A-42, this time heading towards Toledo.

Fortunately, a joint operation formed by members of the Local Police, National Police, and Madrid Municipal Police finally managed to intercept the vehicle. However, it was not easy; during the arrest, there were new ramming attempts by the criminal group. The resistance was fierce, and the three occupants displayed violent behaviour until they were finally subdued.

As a result of the incident, eight police officers were injured: four belonged to the Local Police of Getafe, while two were national police and two municipal. Mayor Sara Hernández expressed her recognition towards the officers involved in this dangerous operation and wished them a speedy recovery.

Not only were the injuries a cause for concern; during the intervention, 15 boxes filled with perfumes were found along with potentially dangerous tools such as picks, clubs, and glass-breaking hammers. These findings suggest that the detainees may be involved in broader criminal activities.
