A festive bridge with more transport options
The Spanish capital is gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors during the San Isidro celebrations, one of Madrid's most emblematic festivities. To ensure that citizens and tourists can enjoy without setbacks, the Metro de Madrid has implemented a special plan that will begin this Thursday and extend until Saturday.
Lines 1, 2, 3, and 5 will be the main beneficiaries of this reinforcement, with increases reaching up to 125%. This effort aims to facilitate travel to the key points of the celebration. The operation will begin at 17:00 on Thursday, gradually ramping up throughout the day with the incremental addition of trains.
On Friday, coinciding with San Isidro Day, line 5 will see its service reinforced from 10:00, while the other lines will increase their frequencies starting from 18:00.
Not only will the number of trains increase; there will also be a notable rise in the number of staff at key stations. This aims to ensure a proper flow of passengers and minimize any potential inconvenience during these festive days.
The Municipal Transport Company (EMT) has also announced significant changes. Several lines, such as 3, 17, and 25, among others, will be reinforced, especially on May 15, when a higher volume of travellers is expected. Additionally, some routes will undergo temporary modifications due to closures for celebrations.
For example, line 25 will experience diversions until May 20, affecting its usual route between Plaza de España and Casa de Campo. Users should be attentive to these alterations and use alternative stops during this period.
As this eagerly awaited festivity approaches for both Madrileños and visitors alike, both the Metro and the EMT are taking proactive measures to ensure that everyone can fully enjoy the festive atmosphere without worrying about logistical issues. With these reinforcements in place, Madrid promises to be a vibrant and accessible place during San Isidro.
