A complicated Friday for Metro users
This Friday, travellers on Line 6 of the Madrid Metro faced a chaotic morning due to a prolonged service interruption. The situation began around 6:00 AM, when a fault was reported in the facilities between the Laguna and Plaza Elíptica stations, affecting both directions.
Although it was initially estimated that the problem could be resolved in less than 30 minutes, the reality was very different. By 8:00 AM, the network updated its information, indicating that the waiting time would extend for more than two additional hours. This led to the affected section changing to be between Laguna and Oporto.
Confusion continued when, around 9:50 AM, a new change in the affected section was announced, this time between Príncipe Pío and Plaza Elíptica. Users began to express their frustration over the lack of clarity regarding when they could resume their normal journey.
Deputy María Acín, representative of the Más Madrid party, quickly pointed out what she considers poor management by the regional government. On her social media, Acín openly criticized the repeated issues at the Carpetana station, suggesting that part of the ceiling had collapsed again. “Once again Line 6. Once again Carpetana. Once again the ceiling falls. What a shameful management by Ayuso,” she expressed.
In light of this critical situation, Metro de Madrid activated a special substitute bus service to cover the interrupted route. This measure aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by passengers during this challenging period.
Finally, after more than five hours since the problem began, around 11:00 AM, the service on Line 6 was fully restored. However, many users had already experienced a difficult start to their work or school day due to this unexpected interruption.
