Modifications to the Cercanías service

The C-5 line of Cercanías Madrid will experience significant alterations to its route over the coming months, affecting thousands of travellers who use this service. According to an official statement from Renfe, the changes will be implemented over four weekends between April and May due to works at Atocha Cercanías station, carried out by ADIF.

The days affected by this service reorganisation are 11 and 12, 18 and 19, 25 and 26 of April, as well as 9 and 10 of May. During these periods, the trains connecting Móstoles-El Soto with Humanes will start and end their journey at Atocha until 10:00 hours. This means that all passengers who need to continue their journey beyond this station will have to make a transfer.

The modification of the route is part of a new phase in the works that ADIF is carrying out to improve the infrastructure of the station. The main objective is to increase operational capacity, which will benefit not only line C-5 but also other lines such as C-3 and C-4. Renfe has indicated that these works have been scheduled taking into account the lower passenger flow during the Easter holiday period.

To minimise the inconvenience caused by these temporary changes, Renfe has activated various information channels. Users will receive announcements via loudspeakers both on trains and at stations. Additionally, informative signage will be installed and social media will be used along with the official WhatsApp channel to keep travellers updated on any news related to the service.

Given the importance of the service for many Madrid citizens, Renfe strongly recommends checking updated information before starting any journey during the affected weekends. From the established time (10:00 hours), the service will resume normal operations from Móstoles-El Soto to Humanes/Fuenlabrada.

As these critical dates approach, it is essential for users to be well informed about the temporary modifications to line C-5. With proper planning and knowledge about the necessary transfers, travellers will be able to adapt smoothly to these changes.
