A bold proposal for the future of Real Madrid
In a move that has surprised many fans, Enrique Riquelme, candidate for the presidency of Real Madrid, has revealed his intention to offer the club's bench to renowned German coach Jürgen Klopp should he emerge victorious in the upcoming elections. This announcement was made during a press conference where Riquelme outlined his vision for the future of the team.
The businessman highlighted that, if he gains the necessary support from the members, his sporting director, Raúl González, will be responsible for contacting Klopp to present him with an ambitious sports project. Riquelme stressed that the choice of the new coach is a decision that should be made by the sports area, led by González, who has the responsibility of designing what he considers to be 'the next decade' of the club.
Throughout his speech, Riquelme spared no praise for Jürgen Klopp, describing him as one of the best contemporary coaches. He emphasized the achievements Klopp has made both at Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, including a Champions League title and multiple national trophies. According to Riquelme, the German's ability to build teams with 'identity', 'leadership', and a 'winning culture' would be crucial to revitalising Real Madrid.
Despite Klopp expressing his desire not to return to management in the short term and having rejected several recent offers, Riquelme believes that managing Real Madrid could represent a different and attractive challenge for him. The candidate was optimistic about this possibility and assured that if he is elected president, Raúl González will contact Klopp immediately after the elections.
Riquelme concluded his address by reaffirming his commitment to the core values of Real Madrid: 'My goal is to always surround myself with the best professionals and make decisions solely in the interest of the club and its members,' he stated. With a focus on humility and excitement for what is to come, he expressed his desire to restore the historical ambition that has characterised the team.
