Renfe Begins Works at Sol Station

The Sol station, a key point in the Cercanías network of Madrid, will undergo significant improvement works that will require its closure for five weekends. The affected dates include May 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31, as well as June 13, 14, 20, and 21.

During this period, users taking the C-3 line from Aranjuez will see their trains terminate at Atocha. On the other hand, the C-4 lines arriving from Colmenar Viejo and Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes will also end at Nuevos Ministerios. Passengers coming from Parla will need to do the same and conclude their journey at Atocha.

Those needing to travel between Nuevos Ministerios and Atocha will have alternative options thanks to lines C-2, C-7, C-8, and C-10. These lines operate through the Recoletos tunnel and offer stops at the station of the same name.

Renfe has assured that it will inform all affected passengers through public announcements, as well as through staff present at the stations. This fluid communication is expected to help minimise any inconvenience during the closure.

The works aim not only to improve the functioning of the tunnel where Sol station is located but also form part of a broader plan to optimise the overall capacity of the C-3 and C-4 lines. This effort is an integral part of the project to also modernise the C-5 line.
